I’ve been playing with my new Arduino Starter Kit for a few days, and I think the best way to define it is: an electronic Lego. An excellent toy for those who enjoyed the blocks years ago.

Arduino is a microcontroller easily programmable from the computer using Arduino IDE, where using C++ language, you can give intelligence to electronic circuits.

But what makes it so interesting? Arduino is an OpenSource project, meaning its operation and structure are public, so anyone can even build their own Arduino. This has allowed it to be available in many flavors and given it a large community of contributors who have made everything from libraries to tutorials for dummies.

The image above shows the classic Arduino UNO, but Arduino tools work on all existing varieties, including those seen in the photo below, where even on the right you can see one in the shape of a gamepad.

You can connect an endless number of accessories to all of them, such as: buttons, all kinds of sensors, variable resistors, and lights. Whether analog or digital, you can somehow use them with this toy.

Personally, I’ve been playing with my Arduino UNO for a few days, and my initial knowledge of electronics was only Ohm’s law. I want to share what you can achieve after a few days.

Experiment N1: Change the state of the lights.
https://youtu.be/hOs7TdwWo8c

Experiment N2: Reading a pressed button.
https://youtu.be/n-QyjsVRw-g

Experiment N3: Change of state of variables using an input.
https://youtu.be/SjATA7jqqvU

Experiment N4: Advanced state change.
https://youtu.be/_DZ7zz8BawI

The tutorial I followed to do this was the one available at this link. The experiments are not exactly what they explained; in fact, in Experiment N4, I had to change the button resistor from 10,000 ohms to 100,000 ohms.

I hope someone gets excited about getting into this world of electronics. I’m having a blast.
